I went to see NRPS on Saturday night and had a real good time. Spent $46 for tix and they played a full two set show, starting at 7:30 and ending at 11:15 - venue was small (Boulton Theater in Bayshore) and the sound was fantastic. For any pedal steel fans out there Buddy Cage still has it goin' on and David Nelson was sounding great. The 'new guys' ain't bad either!

Well worth my hard earned $46.

Great to hear, jgl! Have to ask--don't suppose they do Contract with that lineup?

We did not hear a Contract Sat night that I recall - we did hear some banter as folks were 'requesting' Contract and various band members would reply "Yeah, lets play Contract again" or some such.

We did hear a nice Henry, I Don't Know You, Panama Red, Dead Flowers and the traditional "Ballad of Casey Jones" which was super cool. They also did a really slow laid-back drawn out Glendale Train as an encore.

My friend bought one of their CDs and hung out in the theater after the show and the band members all came out and he was hanging with them and they all signed the CD cover - real good show and I will definitely go to see them again.

No. I lucked out with NRPS as my neighbor bought tix and then invited me, I didn't even realize they were playing there.

If I hear of anything I'll let you know.

Did one of these shows a few weeks back. Sound was awesome, beers were cheap ($2.50 for PBR), w/ $3.00 cover, plus Top Dead Center closed the show..... It was like 103 degrees at 2:30am

I'm glad you liked the New Riders. The current lineup is every bit as good as the old non-Jerry band. However, I would hesitate to classify them as non-Dead without comment. Consider the history of the band -- Marmaduke (rip) was there, and they toured extensively with the Dead. In some shows they were almost inseparable. Listen to the monster 5-15-70.
